Local Governance in the Water Basin of Lake Cocibolca

The Programme shall contribute to strengthening local governance in Environmental Regulatory in order to promote a sustainable socio-economic development in the basin of lake Cocibolca. In order to achieve the overall objective, the Programme foresees three specific components and 4 expected results:

Component I. Support to local sustainable initiatives.
Result 1. Development of local inclusive and participative initiatives in environmental management in order to contribute to the local socio-economic development and the sustainable management of natural resources.

Component II. Strengthening of municipal environmental regulatory and management.
Result 2. The environmental management of Municipalities has been strengthened as well as the communication and participation in planning processes has been improved.

Component III. Inter-institutional coordination and support to the decentralised processes.
Result 3. MARENA has improved his institutional capability in providing services to local population and facilitate the environmental regulatory at local level.
Result 4. The inter-institutional coordination among MARENA, AMUs, municipalities and other local actors).
